About the laboratory
The Smart Grid Laboratory connects power-system analysis with simulation, emulation and experimental investigation of operation, protection and control. Its documented test environment makes it possible to frame a research question as a model, examine it under controlled conditions and critically validate the response before drawing conclusions.
This approach supports research and hands-on learning; it does not imply direct operation of a public distribution grid.
Formalising the network, resources, operating modes and protection functions.
Exploring scenarios and system behaviour in a controlled environment.
Comparing expected and observed responses within clearly stated limits.
Carrying validated methods into scholarship and practical engineering learning.

These areas organise documented themes and relevant member publications; they are not presented as formal laboratory divisions.

Education and practical training
The documented educational role of the laboratory environment helps students connect power-system models with practical investigation. The emphasis is on understanding system response, model limitations and responsible interpretation—not on advertising unconfirmed current courses or enrolment.
Industry collaboration
The laboratory approach can support dialogue around research questions, models and validation methods for modern energy systems. Named partners will be published only after explicit approval.
